Expanding Authentication Choices: AuthNull Now Supports SMS, Email, TOTP, and WebAuthn

MFA

At AuthNull, our mission is to make secure access seamless across every part of your enterprise. Today, we’re excited to announce expanded support for multi-factor authentication (MFA) with new factors that give customers even more flexibility in securing access.

What’s New

AuthNull now supports the following authenticators:

  • SMS OTP – one-time passcodes sent via SMS.

  • Email OTP – one-time passcodes sent via email.

  • TOTP (Time-Based One-Time Passwords) – compatible with Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator, Authy, and others.

  • WebAuthn / Platform Authenticators – biometric and hardware-backed authentication like Apple Touch ID, Face ID, Windows Hello, or FIDO2 security keys.

These additions join our existing Push Notification factor within the AuthNull app, which continues to be the most secure and user-friendly option for infrastructure logons.

Flexible MFA for Web Applications

For web-based logins to applications, organizations can now enable multiple authenticators. This allows users to authenticate in a way that best fits their environment:

Developers may prefer TOTP apps like Google Authenticator.

Employees on mobile devices can use biometrics (WebAuthn) for frictionless login.

Remote workers can fall back to SMS or email codes if needed.

This flexibility ensures that your users always have a secure way to log in, without being locked into a single method.

Push Notifications: The Preferred Factor for Infrastructure

When it comes to securing Linux, Windows, Database, and RADIUS logons, Push Notifications remain the most secure and user-friendly factor.

Why Push?

Speed & Simplicity: Approve or deny with a single tap.

Phishing Resistance: No codes to type, minimizing risk of credential theft.

Contextual Security: Users see session details before approving, reducing accidental approvals.

By standardizing on Push Notifications for infrastructure access, organizations can secure mission-critical systems with minimal friction while maintaining a strong security posture.

One Platform, Many Authenticators

With this update, AuthNull customers now get the best of both worlds:

Variety for web apps – let users choose SMS, Email, TOTP, or WebAuthn based on their needs.

Consistency for infrastructure – streamline Linux, Windows, Database, and RADIUS access with push-first authentication.

This ensures security is never compromised while providing the right balance of usability and control.

Looking Ahead

Expanding MFA factor support is part of our broader vision: to make adaptive, risk-aware, and passwordless authentication accessible to every organization. Whether you’re securing an app, a server, or a database, AuthNull now delivers the tools to do it securely—without slowing down your workforce.
